D-Day Ohio is America’s premier living history event. Nearly 2,000 reenactors create this highly realistic experience of the D-Day Normandy invasion.
What is D-Day Ohio?
America’s premier living history event, D-Day Ohio is a highly realistic experience of the WWII European Theater of Operations and the D-Day Normandy invasion. This free reenactment occurs every August on the long, sandy Lake Erie beach at Township Park in Conneaut.
Why Conneaut?
This spot was chosen because the land forms a bluff that closely resembles Omaha Beach in Normandy, France. Almost 2,000 historical reenactors bring D-Day (June 6, 1944) to life on this Northeast Ohio shoreline each year.
What to Expect
Witness the beach attacks by reenactors and view inland skirmishes between the occupying German soldiers, French resistance fights, and Allied parachute and Glider infantry. Visit the encampments of Allied and Axis troops, peek into the tents where soldiers sleep, and walk through the canteen where they eat. Soldiers march in formation and WWII vehicles rumble.
Honoring U.S. Veterans
This commemoration honors the sacrifice made by all those involved in this campaign and WWII. All U.S. veterans receive special recognition. The event especially welcomes all former Swabbies, Dogfaces, Leathernecks, Wingnuts, Rosie the Riveters, WACs, WAACs, WAVES, WASPs, and all others of the Great Generation to reunite.
