What to expect
Turkey Creek Metropark encompasses 602 acres along Thompson Road and Lake Road in Conneaut, stretching along the easternmost portion of Ohio’s Lake Erie shoreline. The preserve protects 225 acres of forested wetlands, three miles of Turkey Creek, and nearly a mile of undeveloped Lake Erie shoreline. This diverse natural area provides important habitat for rare and state-threatened species and is also known for its outstanding trout fishing. Surveys have identified nearly 400 native plant and animal species throughout the property, including nesting migratory birds and moth species newly documented in the area. Currently, access to the park from Ohio roads is limited. Visitors can reach the preserve by parking along Pennsylvania’s Lakeview Road and walking into the property. Future plans include developing a public access road and creating a Lake Erie overlook, providing greater opportunities for visitors to experience this remarkable landscape while maintaining its natural character.
